Working with Joy
Most of us have to work. Students do homework, children do chores, and parents work to take care of their families. Sometimes jobs can be fun, and sometimes they can be boring or stressful! The Bible says to remember that we do our jobs for God, not just for others.
God loves us so much and we are promised a great reward if we work hard. If we can learn to think about our different types of work as jobs given to us by God, we will be surprised how much it helps our attitude toward our work.
Prayer: God, we want to serve you. We are excited to receive the reward you have waiting for us. Help us to work with our whole hearts, knowing I’m pleasing you.
Activity: Look at the person on your right. Do you know what kind of work they have to do? Take turns asking each other about the jobs each of you do. Then thank each other for your hard work, and be reminded of the reward that is coming
Did you know...
There’s a reason we say “busy as a beaver.” Beavers begin preparing their winter homes late in the summer and work hard through the fall to make sure everything is ready. They spend months gathering wood by chipping away at tree trunks with their teeth! That seems like a lot of hard work.
