Dinnertime Devotions

DAY 4 OF 7

Fighting for You

Imagine you are fighting a battle with all your might. There are swords flying and warriors falling. Your eyes are drawn toward your fearless leader slaying dragons right and left. Enemies who dare attack him lose terribly because he has so much power and he is incredibly skilled. That leader is Jesus, and he fights for you!

Jesus fills us with his strength to face everything that comes our way. He is on our side, and nothing can keep us down. Nothing can defeat us. Nothing we are going through is too hard for Jesus to help give us victory over. All we have to do is keep our eyes fixed on him, and ask him for help.

Prayer: Jesus, thank you for fighting our battles with us and for us. We want to get into the habit of turning to you each time we need help. We know that you hear us and you see us. Through you, we can be more than conquerors!

Activity: Play a few games of thumb wrestling in pairs. Although thumb wrestling isn’t a serious battle, it sure is fun to win. Is there someone who seems to win more than others? How would it feel to win every time you played? With Jesus on your side, you can win every battle you face.

Did you know...
The “peace sign” that we commonly make with our fingers, was a sign that Winston Churchill made popular during WWII. It didn’t stand for peace, it actually symbolized victory. Churchill’s “V for Victory” sign was used frequently by the Allies during the war to show solidarity with each other and defiance against the enemy.
