Deeply Rooted Part 2Sýnishorn
Fruit Bearing Faith
It’s wonderful to see God’s people come through and practically meet the needs of others. No doubt we all have a mandate to love others and serve them. We are called to make disciples of the nations too.
Surrendering in faith for God’s use is both energizing and refreshing. But it is tragic when the high point of a believer’s life is accomplishing something that is humanly possible. The practical aspects of our faith are essential, as we are recognized for demonstrating our beliefs in public settings.
Often the “greater works” that Jesus tells us about in John 14:12 is forgotten.
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father.
What Jesus is referring to here are miracles. The Bible tells us many timeless truths but one verse in particular tells of the “greater works” of a person who takes God for what He has written in the Bible. A person who follows Jesus in faith and believes in Him will do the same mighty miracles that He did, even greater works.
What Jesus did when He walked the earth was to do what He saw His Father doing. He brought miracles of healing, opened blind eyes, gave the deaf hearing, and brought healing to the lepers.
His example was empowered, compassionate, and interacted with God’s love. When we exhibit deeper spiritual roots, we’ll also exhibit the same empowering qualities of Jesus’ greater works with fruit-bearing faith.
There are many times we think this is just for the “super Christian” or those who are outright radical for Jesus. Certainly, we must build churches, and help mission-minded organizations, and send missionaries abroad. These acts of compassion exhibit faith and effectively demonstrate the heart of God.
But those things will never truly satisfy the deep hunger of the believer. The truth is, we have the power within us by the Holy Spirit to stop lies, thievery, and destruction of the enemy. For this to happen we need to activate the power—the same power that was accessible to Jesus.
The Spirit of God lives on the inside of every believer as we receive a full portion of the Spirit upon salvation. We, too, can exhibit God’s powerful fruit-bearing faith, formed by deep spiritual roots.
About this Plan
A deeply rooted faith requires every believer to know God through His Word and by His power. The only way we can withstand the attacks of the enemy and the pressure of everyday life is by having our foundations on the solid bedrock of the Scriptures. God’s recorded revelation and words of truth have changed millions of people throughout history and is essential in developing a deep spiritual root system.
