Deeply Rooted Part 2Sýnishorn
Surrender Your Root System
We are God’s special possessions and His royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). The Bible reiterates this truth but also brings correction when we are thinking wrongly about our identity. God’s Word cultivates our internal roots so that our thoughts and emotions align with and reflect the truth of God.
When we walk under the authority of the Bible it shapes our personality, it awakens our soul, and forges us into Christlikeness. We build our thoughts upon what the Scriptures say and on nothing else. Ephesians 1 goes into great detail about who we are and what God says about us.
Your spiritual root system should be layered with God’s truth and Heaven’s strength. His strength is gained by surrender.
In movies that involve a battle scene, there is always a winner and a loser. The loser, or the weaker opponent, will eventually signal the battle is over by raising a white flag of surrender signifying they are ready to give up. Once the white flag is raised, defeat is signaled and sends a message to the opponent they have won.
If you are the white flag-bearer, it probably takes the last bit of strength to admit surrender in a hard-fought contest. The flag symbolizes a loss. However, in faith, we never lose when we surrender to God.
Most of us fear the loss of our hopes, dreams, and ambitions should we ever submit ourselves fully to the Father’s will. We imagine those ideas being crushed and discarded, never to be fulfilled.
Honoring God’s directives will indeed require adjustments on our part but following Him will never leave us lacking. The will that is submitted to Him is not extinguished; it’s simply surrendered. Your life becomes like clay in God’s hands—pliant and moldable—the raw material for His most stunning masterpieces.
Sometimes we think that we can control our life better than God. However, because the Lord is our Authority, we must surrender our entire heart, soul, and mind to Him.
My life verse was a truth the Lord gave me to stand on when my husband fought the battle of cancer and won! One verse becomes increasingly valuable with each passing year.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
