Drinking Saltwater

DAY 1 OF 6

Day 1: Saltwater

People who are adrift at sea and run out of water face a very perplexing choice. They are thirsty, yet there is water all around them.

We are taught as school children not to drink the saltwater. When you do, the high salt content in the sea water draws out the water from the cells in your body, dehydrating you. Even worse, it will likely make you vomit, which will dehydrate you even further. First leading to sickness, then leading to death.

So if we know this, why are people tempted in those situations?

Because in times of desperation we are susceptible to falling for illusions.

Pornography has the same effects on our body, mind, and spirit. It offers the illusion of intimacy, while giving only death and perversion. We are so susceptible to it because many of us are craving deep human connection. Pornography problems are the result of some type of intimacy disorder. They are also a spiritual stronghold that requires the Holy Spirit empowering us to conquer.

If gone unchecked, pornography destroys people’s brains and makes it difficult to enjoy many activities they once did. It also puts normal sexual relations between a husband and wife in jeopardy as it will have a negative affect on their sexual performance. It causes apathy and numbs a person’s zest for life.

Not to mention the countless women, children, and men who are victims of human trafficking, rape, and molestation to create pornographic material. Pornography is not a victimless sin.
