This I Know

DAY 3 OF 7

This I Know: God Will Fulfill Me

Here’s another true story. A man drove his wife’s car on a quick errand. As he set off on his mission, he couldn’t help but notice a warning light was illuminated on the dash. Her car was almost out of fuel. Side note: there are people who choose to challenge the accuracy of their car’s fuel light and those who do not. This man was in the second group. A cold panic quickly set in. His mission became irrelevant. He frantically searched for the nearest gas station with his heart racing, left eye twitching, and both hands sweating.

How many of our spiritual lives are like the car? Running on fumes. Testing the accuracy of the warning signs. We let work, family, and life slowly crowd out our time with God. We run low, nearly empty, of His life-fueling wisdom, love, and guidance.

What if the guy in the story panicked when he couldn’t find a gas station easily and filled his tank with water? Or maybe a soda he had in the car? He wouldn’t. That’d be crazy. Yet, when we’re running low, our desperate and sinful nature entices us to fill up with what can never fulfill us. When we read the Bible daily, God overflows our hearts and souls with the right fuel. When we’re fueled up, we’re ready for our mission.

God will fulfill me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.

Pray: Father You are my fuel. I come to You and Your Word for hope, joy, and peace. Show me any areas in my life where I’ve filled up with the wrong things. Holy Spirit, I’m asking for more of You instead! Amen.
