DAY 16 OF 20

In John chapter 10, we read of Jesus Christ being described as the Good Shepherd, with His followers being compared to a flock of sheep. With sheep having a reputation for not being quite as intelligent as other animals, this may not seem like a flattering comparison. However, science today has shown there is more to sheep than meets the eye. Sheep can recognize human faces and even isolate and follow only one voice. And while they’re definitely brighter than we may have thought, they still depend on a shepherd for safety and security.

It’s the same with humanity—we may be smart, good problem solvers, and able to be social creatures, but we still need a Savior. We still listen for His voice to help guide us daily. When did you last listen to God’s voice in your life? Are you spending more time trying to solve an issue yourself instead of turning towards the Great Shepherd for guidance? Spend some time in prayer today, and ask God to help you listen for His voice. Think of specific times of day or situations where you need to hear what He says to you.

About this Plan

He Is

Getting to know someone takes time. It’s the same with our relationship with God. God doesn’t just want us to know facts about Him or only speak to Him through prayers sporadically said throughout our lives. God wants us to have a relationship with Him based on us knowing who He is. We will walk together through Scriptures that are filled with descriptions of God’s attributes and promises to help us know Him more.
