He IsSýnishorn
A few years ago, a meme became incredibly popular on social media about a teenager who was getting ready to meet his brand-new niece. The picture showed the teen dressed up in a full tuxedo, holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers. This, of course, would have looked normal at something like a school dance or formal occasion, but the teen was dressed like this sitting in a hospital waiting room. The text on the photo read, “My brother wanted to make sure that he made a good first impression as an uncle.” That teen was going to be a great uncle, starting from day one.
He wanted to make sure his first impression was the best it could be. Wouldn’t we want our first impression of someone to be the best it could be? But on the flip side of that . . . how many of us haven’t always made the best first impression? And at that moment, when we’ve realized we haven’t put our best foot forward, it would be normal for us to want the other person to get to know us a little bit more. It’s the same in our relationship with God. Even if we didn’t have the best first impression, God wants us to look a little deeper. To get to know Him through the stories of others and through the things He’s done for His people. What’s one thing you could do this week to get to know God just a little bit more?

About this Plan
Getting to know someone takes time. It’s the same with our relationship with God. God doesn’t just want us to know facts about Him or only speak to Him through prayers sporadically said throughout our lives. God wants us to have a relationship with Him based on us knowing who He is. We will walk together through Scriptures that are filled with descriptions of God’s attributes and promises to help us know Him more.
