Living in God's Presence

DAY 7 OF 10

Living in God’s presence means communicating with Him.

“O Lord, God of my salvation,
I cry out day and night before you.
Let my prayer come before you;
incline your ear to my cry!” (Psalm 88:1-2)

When you are living with somebody, you don’t ignore this person all day. It’s natural to communicate. When we are living in God’s presence, it’s natural to communicate with Him as well! The Bible encourages us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This does not mean that we’ll be on our knees all day, but that we are having an ongoing conversation with God as we do our duties, meet other people, or just live our daily lives.

It’s helpful to start your day with a moment of dedicated prayer since this helps you to be aware of God’s presence and to get the right perspective before you take on life’s challenges for the day. It is also helpful to end your day with a moment of meditation and prayer to lay everything that’s on your mind in the Lord’s hands. But there’s no need to limit your communication with God to these moments or to specific places. Whenever something comes to your mind that you want to thank God for or pray about, you can do so at any time. God is always “within hearing distance” as you are living in His presence.

Do you communicate with God?

About this Plan

Living in God's Presence

Being a Christian is about reading your Bible, praying to God, and attending church services, right? Yes, it is, but there is much more. As a Christian, you live coram Deo, before God. You continually live in His presence. You live under His authority and to His glory. This reading plan explains how you can walk with God every day of your life.
