Living in God's Presence

DAY 4 OF 10

Living in God’s presence gives you a goal in life.

“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” (Philippians 3:8)

Often life is beautiful and we have all kinds of plans. Sometimes life is tough and hopeless. In either situation, it is important to have a higher purpose in mind. Our earthly life is important, but not the most important thing. We may enjoy it when our plans succeed, and we may be disappointed when setbacks occur. But all of that is in proper perspective when we live consciously with God. Knowing Him and having a relationship with Him truly has “surpassing worth.” Paul describes that as his life's goal: that he may be one with the Lord Jesus, share in His suffering but also in the power of His resurrection.

In part, this goal is in the future, because perfect unity will only begin after our earthly lives. But even now God dwells in the hearts of His children and is with them. This unity with God gives their lives purpose and perspective. In comparison, both the beautiful and the difficult things of this earthly life fade away.

What is your life's purpose? Does that fit with a life in God’s presence?

About this Plan

Living in God's Presence

Being a Christian is about reading your Bible, praying to God, and attending church services, right? Yes, it is, but there is much more. As a Christian, you live coram Deo, before God. You continually live in His presence. You live under His authority and to His glory. This reading plan explains how you can walk with God every day of your life.
