Real Hope: Radical Transformation

DAY 4 OF 5

A Change In The Lens

I was the girl who swirled and twirled. Any raised platform was a stage—stuffed toys made for a great audience. I lost my way in daydreams of princes, castles, and fairies. I was a little bossy, too chatty in class, always late, and tried hard to never get in trouble.

I hated maths and science was boring. What good was algebra going to be to me? I would never need to know the sum of X and Y, if A was a car that drove 7 km in 43 seconds and Sally had three apples and ate two.

But when I was 15, I had an encounter that transformed my understanding of God, and from there, everything changed.

I have grown into a woman who swirls and twirls with words and stories that God has given me. I am a woman who discovered that the creativity she would once get lost in as a child has a greater purpose in Him than just daydreaming. I am a woman who was shown that what was once considered bossy was untapped leadership potential and what once was considered ‘chatty’ was a deep understanding of communication. I am a woman who if you had told her when she was a kid that she would one day run her own business, I would have laughed at you because I felt so ill-equipped to do so.

Often what we perceive to be negatives about ourselves, or things that we think disqualify us from certain paths in life, are the very things God will use for His glory. But it begins with a transformation of the mind. A lens change. Aligning our understanding of ourselves with how God sees us and what He did on the cross will see our lives transformed and new paths we never dreamed possible reveal themselves.
