Jesus Is the Ultimate Prophet, Priest and KingSýnishorn
Jesus is still a Prophet
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
Forty days after Jesus’ resurrection, He ascended into heaven. He took His place at God’s right hand. His earthly ministry was completed. But this does not mean that He is no longer the ultimate Prophet. Right before He was leaving the earth, Jesus told His disciples that they would be His witnesses to the end of the earth. The Holy Spirit, also called the Spirit of Jesus Christ, would equip them for this task. This came true at Pentecost. The Holy Spirit was poured out abundantly and the disciples who previously were afraid and hid themselves behind locked doors, now preached the Gospel openly and powerfully. Thousands came to faith.
When Jesus was living on earth, He could only be in one place at a time. But now, His witnesses spread the Word of God all over the globe simultaneously. When they preach the Gospel, it is actually Jesus who is speaking through them. They are His humble representatives as they proclaim the word of truth all over the earth.
If you are a Christian, you are also called to spread the Word and to be a witness. Do you do so?
About this Plan
Jesus Christ has existed from eternity as God the Son. But He came to earth to make sinful people right with God again. His salvation work can be described in three key words: He is the ultimate Prophet, Priest and King — not just during His earthly ministry, but forever. This reading plan takes 11 days to discover what these three ‘offices’ of Jesus imply.
