Jesus Is the Ultimate Prophet, Priest and King

DAY 7 OF 11

Jesus still works as a Priest

“Since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:21-22)

Jesus has brought the ultimate sacrifice. Now, He is at the Father’s right hand as our High Priest, serving as a mediator between God and mankind. He is interceding for us, and therefore we can draw near to God with confidence. Even though we ourselves are sinful, in Jesus we are beautiful and righteous and accepted by the Father. Because Jesus is interceding for us, nobody can condemn us anymore. Not even Satan. This is a great comfort for every Christian who is struggling with his own sinfulness and weakness in the faith. As the apostle John assures us, “if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one. He is the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 2:1-2).

Not only does Jesus intercede for us with God the Father, He is also able to understand our weaknesses and struggles since He has Himself lived on earth and experienced our temptations. Since He is our High Priest, we can come before God’s throne to receive help when we need it. He is almighty and merciful. He will be there for His children till the end of the world — and forever. Nothing can separate us from His love!

About this Plan

Jesus Is the Ultimate Prophet, Priest and King

Jesus Christ has existed from eternity as God the Son. But He came to earth to make sinful people right with God again. His salvation work can be described in three key words: He is the ultimate Prophet, Priest and King — not just during His earthly ministry, but forever. This reading plan takes 11 days to discover what these three ‘offices’ of Jesus imply.
