A Christian Mother's CreedSýnishorn
I will Equip Myself with God’s Word and Walk in Wisdom
Soldiers are always equipped for battle. While serving as a soldier, I was trained to fight with my body and equipment. A soldier who is not equipped for any battle is a liability to other soldiers in the fight. A Christian mother equips herself with God’s Word, she is not a liability to her pastor and other believers. While I enjoy listening to my pastors and other great teachers in the Church, I have a personal responsibility to study God’s Word by myself. So that my pastor is not always on speed dial when something happens in my home.
This declaration is a commitment to study and meditate on God’s word. In doing this, you become aware of your birthrights as a Christian mother. God’s promises for you and your children would be made known to you through God’s word. It is a commitment to study God’s word for your personal growth, not to sound spiritual and well versed before people. In Ephesians 6:17, God’s word is the Sword of the Spirit. It exposes our hidden intentions, renews our mind, and reveals God’s will to us. God’s word will reveal selfish motherhood tendencies. It would expose your desire to control and manipulate your children in different situations or seasons.
A Christian mother studies the Bible, has a personal relationship with the author and uses the Word as a weapon against the enemies of her children. The mind-renewing power of God’s Word makes the Christian mother wise. She knows what to do in every situation because she serves the Omniscient God and allows His word to guide her in mothering.
Question for Reflection: Is Bible reading/meditation a daily priority in my life?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word. Put in me a strong desire to daily study and meditate on your Word. In Jesus name. Amen.
