DAY 3 OF 8

I Serve the Living God and Walk in Love

Those serving in the military are described as servicemen and servicewomen. Even military animals are known as military service-animals. They are not for petting. They are not available for everyone to cuddle. They have been trained to serve. They have a specific mission. Similarly, a Christian mother is on a mission- God’s mission. God trains her in the journey of motherhood.

I Serve the Living God- This is a proclamation that you serve a God who is not dead. The God who does not sleep nor slumber when you and your children are asleep. The God who lives in you. The God you can trust as you and your children do life. The God you can call upon anytime and anywhere. He is alive. When we live with the consciousness that our God is alive, it changes everything.

I Walk in Love- This is a proclamation that you are indeed living the life of love which Jesus taught.  To walk in love is to make decisions from a place of love.  When you discipline your child, it should be done in love. Child discipline should not be done in anger, frustration, and desire to show who is in control.  As mothers, we can trust God to help us discipline in love just like He disciplines us in love (Hebrews 12:6).

Questions for Reflection:  Am I walking in love? Are my mothering decisions coming from a place of love or resentment?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I believe you are the living God.  I thank you for giving me the Spirit of love.  Teach me to walk in love.  Help me to be patient with my child(ren).  In Jesus name.  Amen.
