Planning Like Nehemiah|Step 1
During the next few days, we will study the seven steps Nehemiah took to successfully rebuild the walls and gates of Jerusalem. We can use his steps as a roadmap for developing and implementing our own wisdom-based planning processes.

Pray Fervently
Nehemiah was cupbearer to the king of Persia. For him to go to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls was not a step he would take randomly. For four months Nehemiah prayed and fasted about his plan before he approached the king for permission and help. His prayers paved the way for him to receive the king’s favor.
In James 5:17 we learn about the power of prayer. It says, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.”
Whenever we begin a project or launch a business, we want to remember to begin by praying fervently for God’s direction and for His divine power.

About this Plan
Most would agree that planning is an important process to be used in our workplaces, but one that is often condensed or sometimes ignored. This 7-part series will examine how Nehemiah harnessed the discipline of planning to successfully rebuild Jerusalem’s walls. His practical and wise seven-step process is one that we can use today.
