Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 11Sýnishorn
Here’s the verse you’ve been looking for if you are young! Rejoice in your youth! You hear that from many in our culture today. You even hear it from old people in various expressions of their wisdom. As someone who is well past this stage of life, I would suggest that you indeed enjoy your youth! But realize that if you are in college, those days are almost past for you. Adult life is on the horizon.
I would also say that these years don’t have to be the best of your life as many suggest. If you keep in mind the second part of verse 9, you’ll be way ahead of the game. If we are mindful that all the days of our life are in God’s hand and subject to His judgement, we can face the future knowing that the best days are always ahead of us.
We are told to not worry, remove pain from our life, and realize that all of life is a vanity in the last verse of this short chapter. However, these verses are not an excuse to live however we want to do so. The Teacher has addressed this mindset in earlier chapters. While we are to enjoy the life we have been given by God, we are to do so with prudence and moderation always keeping God in the front of the story!
