Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 11Sýnishorn
The penultimate chapter in the book is also the shortest chapter. However, that doesn’t mean the Teacher doesn’t have much to say in it. In order to make this a uniform week, we’ll divide the chapter into two verse segments, which will force some verses together that might rather stand alone!
The context of these two verses seems to point more to a business approach than personal giving as is often suggested. While there is nothing wrong with giving generously, these verses seem to suggest that a prudent person doesn’t put all their eggs in one basket! Spreading out our efforts keeps one evil event from destroying all that we have worked for in this life.
The teaching to not put all our wealth on one boat is good advice for all of us, but especially for those just getting started in their professional careers. It’s good advice for financial management but also just good advice to become a well-rounded human being. We never know where the Lord may take us on this journey of life!
