Fervent Still.
"Ever filled and ever seeking, what they have they still desire,
Hunger there shall fret them never, nor satiety shall tire, -
Still enjoying whilst aspiring, in their joy they still aspire."
('Chronicles of the Schonberg-Cotta Family,' ch. 9, from the Latin Hymn of Peter Damiani, † 1072.)
There's a longing, an ache, an earnest intense desire that only can only be satisfied by the One who made us. And it's Jesus to whom we belong, who we've been created for. Constant Communion in the Presence of our King. This is our life. Ever burning aglow.
Fervent Still.
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Psalm 84:2
David expressed how his entire nature ardently desired, nearly out of exhaustion, just to be in His courts, moreover, weeping and crying out. A heart relentlessly in pursuit of the Living God.
As we continue walking out a lifestyle of hunger + thirst, may we keep our hearts before the Lord asking to sustain our appetite of wanting more of Him. Inviting the Holy Spirit to show us things we may earnestly seek? What has our heart? What keeps our devotion? Remembering, that all it takes is a second to turn, and He'll come.
Prayer Prompt: Let Psalm 84:2 be a part of your daily encounter with the Lord. Declaring, that it's our Living God that we long, faint, and cry out for! Amen!
Friend, I'm so thankful to the Lord for all He has done and will continue to do. I am honored to have you share in this devotional time, and I'm praying that you experience the depth of God's glory and that it manifests in our lives daily, in Jesus' name! Let's remain here, in the Secret Place. He's our reward, and we are Fervent Still.
