A Year in Luke/Acts

ỤBỌCHỊ 88 NKE 364

A theme running throughout Luke 13, and indeed Luke’s whole gospel, is Jesus calling out Israel’s failings in order to bring about repentance and relationship. Jesus does not just pronounce woes for the sake of it! There is a beautiful image of God being referred to as a mother hen who desires to gather her chicks under her wings. Jesus’ deep desire is that Israel would say “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” and receive salvation.

Let’s take some time to pray today, thanking Jesus and saying “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” This is a way of reminding ourselves who Jesus is and all he has done.
