Year of the Bible: Part One of TwelveIhe Atụ
The Woman and Man Eat From the Forbidden Tree.
Stop here and read today's scriptures.
The moment you read about here was when corruption entered the world as sin. Sin has been described through an acrostic, "Self Indulgence Now." At the root of sin is the desire to put ourselves on the throne of our lives, simultaneously dethroning God and taking away His rightful place.
Adam and Eve's sin was trading dependence on God for self-dependence at its core. They were designed to be conscious of God and his love for them, not to keep a record of "rights" and "wrongs. "They traded their knowledge of God for an understanding of their good and evil deeds.
Question: Why do you think Adam and Eve chose to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil? In what ways do you demand Self Indulgence Now?
Prayer Focus: The struggle against self-reliance is very real. Ask God to teach you greater trust and humility to rely on Him first.
