Moments for Mums: Women of the Christmas Story - Part 1

If you have carried a child in your womb, you know the joy of that first flutter of movement. Women have a special privilege in being able to "hold" our baby for nine months in the secret place. We build a connection with them from before that first kick, through to when we are crying: "Stop kicking me!"

When Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth would have already felt many kicks from her unborn baby, as she was in her sixth month of pregnancy. But somehow in her spirit, she knew this "leap of joy" was different. It signified something very exciting was going to happen. Through this timely event, Elizabeth blessed Mary for her faith in God, giving her confidence in the future of her own unborn son, the very Son of God.

Question

How did you feel when you felt that first quickening or your baby? Did it remind you of Mary’s pregnancy?

Prayer

Lord, I thank you for the privilege of being a woman, able to bear a child in my body. I again commit to raising my child/ren in your way teaching them of you.
