Freedom From Porn Begins HereIhe Atụ
Day 18
Relapse and Reality
What is the scariest thing you've ever done?
For those struggling to break free from unwanted sexual behavior, it can be their initial confession about their struggle with porn. This step of courage and vulnerability must become a lifestyle for freedom to take root.
When we sin our tendency is to do what Adam and Eve did—hide.
If we don’t learn how to handle a relapse correctly, we will drift toward hiding. That is the nature of sin and our own hearts.
This is why the Bible commands us,
“...Exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” - Hebrews 3:13
If we don’t confess and repent when we sin, our hearts begin to grow callous. When this happens we aren’t as sensitive to God, His Word, and His Spirit’s leadership. We step back into the shadows. We are deceived by sin. Because this is our tendency we are commanded to exhort one another every day.
Today’s Challenge:
- Watch today’s video: Relapse and Reality.
- Answer the reflection questions.
Reflection Questions:
- What is the difference between repentance and regret?
- What does it mean to live in reality?
- Why is living in reality so important to recovery?
- Which of the five responses to relapse are most important to you?
- What makes the difference in a relapse being turned into a positive moving forward or setting you back in your progress?
