Dunamis

Adam was made in the likeness and the image of God. We know this because it was written in the Bible. But how did Adam understand that he was made in the likeness and the image of God?

God planted a garden in Eden and He brought Adam there to live. Our God is perfect and without flaws, He is splendor in His beauty, and all He does brims with excellence. If He planted a garden, can you imagine how glorious, how magnificent, and how astonishing it would be? Adam was given a challenge more than simply taking care of the garden, he was to cultivate it. Not only to sustain it, but Adam had to work the garden out and make it better than its current condition. Remember that this garden was made by God, and not by humans. We never found Adam stressed out about the task or complaining to God.

God never instructs us to do something if we are not capable of completing it. He didn’t give any commands without making sure that we are prepared for it. Everything He entrusted us with, comes with the capability within us to make it even better, because we are made in His likeness and His image. When a smartphone manufacturer launched its latest version, they always claimed that it was their best creation ever. But the next year after that, they would release a newer and more sophisticated version. This proves that God has given us the capability to always make something better.

This capability (dunamis) resides in us and is evident through our talents, capacities, or creative ideas that we need to evoke. Do not be afraid or do not turn to anger when we have to face our challenges, because it might be a good time for us to tap into our God-given capabilities.

A renewed mind considers trials as pure joy and perceives it from a different perspective. We know that a reward awaits us on the other side of trials: maturity and wholeness; not lacking in anything.

Dr. Myles Munroe once said, “Poor people talk about money, rich people talk about things, wealthy people talk about ideas.” People are surrounded by many kinds of difficulties nowadays. But how shall we see it? Should we tremble and let fear stop us or should we evoke the power that’s already within us; the dunamis that God has given?

Pray

Father in heaven, I am grateful that You are always near. Your presence goes with me wherever I go. I believe that Your Spirit is helping me, comforting me, and encouraging me. Hence this pandemic and this new season turns into a beautiful and wonderful journey walking together with You. Before it is heard, seen, or known, testimonies of Your greatness are being written and shaped right now. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Welcoming the New Season

As human beings, anxiety is often our natural response towards matters we have yet to understand or solve. But the Spirit of God gives us the power to go through all kinds of seasons. For the next four days, we will learn how to let go of anxiety, and tap into God’s strength, as we ask, seek, and knock to prepare ourselves for welcoming the new season.
