Read it out

This passage shows the greatness of Jesus. Jesus is more than a great man, He is the Son of God! Paul reminds us that Jesus was present with the Father during creation. Not only that, Jesus actually played a role in creation. We see the truth that Jesus currently sustains the governance of the universe with His power.

Paul notes that because of sin we are separated from God and from one another. Jesus had the power and authority to reconcile all things to God. Jesus gave His all so that we could be part of God’s family. Jesus not only shows His incredible power, but His unmatched love to us and to His Father through the sacrifice He made on our behalf. This love draws us in and gives us the title of sons and daughters.

This is the hope we have as we take on the name of Jesus. This is what we proclaim with our lives, both in word and deed.

Talk it out.

Explain why Jesus is the only one who can reconcile the world and all humanity to God.

Pray it out.

Praise Jesus for who He is and what He has done (1:15-20)

Ask God to give you strength to continue in the faith, not veering from the hope of the gospel. (1:23)
