Ready:

“Then God said, ‘Let Us make human beings in Our image, to be like Us’.” Genesis 1:21a

Set:

Have you ever wondered why you were selected for a certain team?  I’ve been chosen for basketball teams when I did not think I had earned it. But the Coach selected me anyway. Most of the time, it was because I brought a desire to work hard and challenge those who were the top players. He did so because he saw a value in what I could contribute to the team.

Did you know that YOU have value, even off the court or ice or field?  That is because God’s love for us is beyond measure.  We, you and I, are treasured, but our value is notaccording to what we can contribute.  God is perfect and mighty and holy.  We cannot add anything to Him and all that He is.  Yet, He loves us anyways. The Bible gives two strong proofs of our value to the Almighty.

First, He created you.  Genesis 1 says that we were created to be like Him.  That gives us value.  Second, Jesus died on the Cross for us.  Adam and Eve sinned, dooming us to die.  But He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to die in our place, when He did not deserve it.  He simply loves you that much.

Go:

1. Have you ever make a team that you never expected to?  How did that feel?

2. How does it feel to know that God places a high value on you?

3. Read John 3:16. What are you going to do knowing that He loves you like that?

Workout:

Genesis 1-2:7

Overtime:

“Lord, thank You for creating and loving me, despite my sin.  Help me to live for you more each day, starting today.  In Jesus’ name, amen.”
