Fortified: A Week of Strength for Menનમૂનો
Set on What
What is your heart set on? What do you spend your time thinking about? Where do you spend your money or time? The psalmist says that the blessed have set their hearts on a journey. Those who are focused on a pilgrimage toward heaven are given strength and blessing. A pilgrimage is a journey toward something that has real meaning, typically something that is spiritually significant.
When you are on a pilgrimage, the only thing that matters is the destination. You are far more concerned with accomplishing your goal than with every individual step. When you deliberately seek Jesus, communion with him is your highest purpose. The circumstances of your life won’t matter as much as your desire to know him, love him, and serve him. As you keep your eyes focused on eternity, the details of your life that once filled you with worry will become more and more insignificant.
You can’t embark upon a pilgrimage on accident. You won’t wake up one day and find yourself in the middle of a close relationship with God. A pilgrimage requires intention, purpose, and fortitude. You must direct your heart toward the Lord and choose to follow him each day. The decision is yours alone. No matter what the people around you say or do, you get to decide whom you will follow. Not only has God called you to follow him, but he promises to strengthen you for the journey. He knows exactly what it will take to follow him for the rest of your life, and he is willing to equip you and strengthen you. Your decision to lay your life down might initially feel like a sacrifice, but even the most difficult pilgrimage toward Jesus has endless eternal value.
When you set your heart on a pilgrimage you are pursuing something bigger than yourself. As you admit your weaknesses and seek to grow in those areas, Jesus will give you what you need. As you pursue him in every circumstance, you will experience the peace of his presence. True and eternal blessing comes from following Jesus with determination.
