Renewing Your Mind
Larissa Cardoso
I’m an over-thinker. I always have been, and I’ve seen how overthinking has made my life more challenging. I couldn’t tell you how many nights I have lost sleep because I replayed scenarios, constantly questioning my decisions, asking, “Why did I say or do that?” I tend to put too much pressure on myself to do what is right and lead purposefully. But how do we know what is right and God’s will for our lives?
I regretted being stuck in one of those moments of overthinking and confusion. I wasn’t confident in my decisions because I wasn’t prepared. There will be moments of temptation and pressure in our lives, but we can choose to prepare ourselves for those moments to be confident in how we respond. Preparation is key!
You must renew your mind and fully transform to know what is right and God’s will. Remember, we live in the world but are not part of the world, which means we are called to think and behave differently from everyone else. If we base what is right and wrong on our fleeting feelings, we will never know God's transforming power.
We should consistently feed ourselves with God’s word and choose to be in His presence. Once you renew your mind, then you will be able to test and approve His will. When making decisions, ask, “What does God’s Word say?” rather than “How do I feel?”
Take time and reflect on how you choose to live for God. Think about the decisions you have made recently and ask yourself whether God was part of your decision-making. Then, ask God to renew your mind and open your heart to His will. Let go of your will and ask Him to prepare you by giving you the confidence to stand firm in God’s Word.
