The Passionate Groom

DAY 2 OF 6

In Song of Songs 1:2, we see the declaration that the bridegroom’s love is better than wine. In biblical culture, wine is often associated with celebration and joy. To compare love to wine is to highlight its purity, joy, and the satisfaction it brings. However, the love Solomon describes goes beyond these earthly qualities. It points to a love that is essentially superior and more fulfilling.

This love reflects the essence of the first and greatest commandment that Jesus mentions in Matthew 22:37-38 (NIV): “Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.”

Love for God should be the foundation of our entire life, the cornerstone of our spiritual pyramid. We need to pray and ask the Lord to pour His divine love into our hearts, a love that enables us to love Him with our whole being. This love is the first commandment and the essence of the relationship that God desires to have with us.

It is also important to understand that this first commandment will become even deeper and more real in our hearts as we draw closer to Christ’s return. God’s love poured into our hearts prepares us for His coming and strengthens us on our spiritual journey.

About this Plan

The Passionate Groom

In the book of Song of Solomon, the bride symbolizes the Church, which longs for the transformative touch of God's Word. This touch, like a divine kiss, purifies and reveals, establishing the foundation of our faith. Just as the bride, we are called to seek this intimacy, allowing the Word to transform us and prepare us for a life that pleases the Lord. Let yourself be touched by divine revelation.
