Insufficient Answers - Not All Questions Have Answers

DAY 5 OF 9

Insufficient answers

While in prison, Jesus' answer to John the Baptist (Matthew 11:2-6) may have seemed insufficient. It may not have fully reassured his heart and removed all signs of doubt and confusion, but that was the answer Jesus chose to give him.

There will be days when God will not do what we expect. In those times, we must understand that He created us for Himself. It is never about us.

We are not here for ourselves. We are here for God, and we're here to answer His expectations.

Strangely, God often doesn't give us details about what He expects of us.

To know God, we must know Him by faith. The righteous live by faith. Faith does not always need to understand everything. Faith’s power is in its relationship with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Faith is strengthened by studying God's character.

When you have faith, you believe God, regardless of whether you understand His reasons. Even when you're struggling to understand God, you should still trust His character and His heart. As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause, who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number (Job 5:8-9).

In Mark 6:24, Salome asked for the head of John the Baptist to be brought to her on a platter. Some may see this as a sign of God's loss of control, but it's a misunderstanding of His sovereignty. The fact that God allowed it is one of many questions in the Bible that He has not fully answered yet but must be seen as evidence that He is in control.

Throughout your life, people will do things to you. God will allow these people to work "death" in you, and in the end, you will see that God used them in your life to ultimately see Jesus exalted. We won't be able to fully understand how our "death," shame, suffering, persecution, pain, sickness, loneliness, and scorn can honour the Father and exalt Jesus, but God knows what He is doing. Ours is a costly gospel. Our gospel gives eternal life, much joy, meaning, and purpose, but there will always be unanswered questions, pain, suffering and death.

About this Plan

Insufficient Answers - Not All Questions Have Answers

As we go through life, we will face situations that cause us to ask difficult questions. These questions will come from pain, failure, humiliation, and powerlessness. There are no answers to all our questions, but it is still possible to live meaningful lives with what God has revealed to us from His Word.
