The Secret to Victory Is…

What comes to mind when you think about spiritual warfare?

I’ve found there are three common misperceptions of spiritual warfare. First, many picture a boxing ring with the devil in one corner and God in the other… and they’re fighting an even match. Second, some believe it’s the devil versus us—and we’re on the losing side. They see the odds leaning toward the devil. And third, some don’t believe there is no fight at all—“There’s no enemy… that’s all just a figment of your imagination, folklore, and fiction.”

However, Scripture teaches us spiritual warfare is very real.

Here’s the good news: the devil’s power is limited because Jesus has already brought the victory! The only power Satan has against us is deception and biblical ignorance. He cannot overcome us if we refuse his lies and embrace God’s truth.

In Genesis 3, we see Satan tempt Adam and Eve for the very first time. Instead of coming as an elephant—putting his foot on Adam’s head and threatening him—the enemy came as a serpent. Satan came this way because he didn’t have the power to force Adam and Eve to do anything physically. He could only deceive.

Satan had to deceive because he didn’t have the power to come against God or His children. In Christ, Satan has zero power and authority over you—that’s why we don’t fight with our own power but with Christ’s authority! Our human power and strength are limited, but by embracing God’s Word and standing in the authority of Christ, we live victoriously… you can live victoriously!

● What is God saying to me?

● What does it mean to me?

● How can I apply what God is teaching me?

● How can I be specific in prayer today?

After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
