5 Days to a New Reality of Trust, Connection, and Authenticity With Godનમૂનો
A New Reality
Our God is a God of transformation. From the very beginning, He breathed Life into mere dust (Gen 2:7). He loves us just as we are, but He also sees our full potential — after all, He put it there. He calls us to deny ourselves (Mt 16:24), to leave our comfort zones behind, and to become (or be transformed into) the saints He made us to be.
Even though His transforming power and love are always present, sometimes we grow numb to it. Even the miraculous can begin to feel mundane. For me, one of the best ways to be woken up to His presence again is through nature — which of course has God’s fingerprints all over it.
Over the last few years, my husband and I started taking daily walks in our neighborhood. Even in busy seasons, we tried to keep this habit. Taking the opportunity to slow down enough to really pay attention, we witnessed as day by day the seasons changed over an entire year. Creation is constantly being sustained around us, going through its own cycle of life. The great shedding of fall, the brilliant silence of hibernation and death in the winter, the blossoming hope of new life in the spring, the abundance of light and life in the summer, over and over again.
You could say this is simply the cycle of the seasons. But perhaps God is truly present in every transformation.
G.K. Chesterton said, “It is possible that God says every morning, ‘Do it again’ to the sun; and every evening, ‘Do it again’ to the moon. It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never got tired of making them. It may be that He has the eternal appetite of infancy; for we have sinned and grown old, and our Father is younger than we.”
Personally, these daily walks have genuinely changed my life. I’ve been woken up to the many big and small ways that God sustains us. Even when I don’t feel Him, when I can’t sense Him, He is at work.
In our sin, we grow old and tired. But God meets us each morning with new mercies. Each day is a new reality. An opportunity to say “yes” to Him; an invitation to transformation.
