Timeless: The Living and Enduring Word of God

DAY 3 OF 7

Just Like My Dad

Obedient children should act just like their Daddy, knowing He is holy. If we desire to obey, we must become acquainted with the nature and character of God. He is the One we are imitating.

In the Old Testament, the word holy, when describing the character of God, was the Hebrew word gadosh. This word can be interpreted as “apartness, holiness, sacredness, or hallowedness.”

When I read the command to live a holy life, I am intimidated. Maybe you share my struggle. Take a deep breath, my friend, because being like God in His holy nature is precisely what Peter is proposing.

Every day of our lives, we are to be conformed more and more to the image of the One who made us and who loves us. It is imperative that we give Him our whole heart so He can give us His heart in return.

If we desire to be part of His plan for this generation, then we must respond to His tender invitation. When we call on the power of the Holy Spirit, holiness becomes a lifestyle of power and freedom.

Day Three Prayer:

Dear Jesus, I humbly accept your invitation to live a holy and set-apart life. Thank You for choosing me to demonstrate Your amazing character. I do want to be just like You, Dad. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
