Part 3 SUICIDE

DAY 1 OF 3

THE WAR IN THE MIND

“And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you. Rescue me from my rebellion” Psalm 39:7-8a

As we complete the series on Suicide I want to pay honor to every man and woman who has ever served in the military of their country. In the United States, according to a study in 2020 (US Department of Veterans Affairs,) 6,146 Veterans took their lives. Suicide in 2020 among U.S. Veterans was 31.7 per 100,000 Veterans. Can you imagine what the stats are worldwide?

“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27
"For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

These two verses and the verses from the Psalms are filled with truth that I pray every person who has lost hope, would repeat over and over until they permeate their spirit. In fact I will be repeating them in this series.

What a war Veteran experiences is a constant replay of terror in their minds or an unexpected noise that takes them back to the horrors of war. PTSD is the result of experiencing a traumatic event or events. And, anyone is subject to getting it; a person who has been raped, kidnapped, beaten, the list goes on.

We must realize that this is a mind thing, and the key is to win the battle over the mind. It is in the mind that these things replay themselves and if thoughts are constant, they enter the spirit. This is exactly what the enemy (Satan) wants. War has robbed enough from our Vets. I pray that each soldier will stand up to their thoughts and be their own commander and choose life! Too many have died by their own efforts and they are robbing themselves of the very purpose God had for their life.

PRAYER: Lord, I pray that everyone reading the Series on Suicide is enlightened to the truth by Your Word. Help them stand up against the war in their mind that wants to destroy them. Lord give each hope. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
