Right Intentions
Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
As you go through your dating journey, it's normal to encounter challenges and setbacks that leave you feeling discouraged and hopeless. That's why it's important to remember that God is the God of new beginnings–a dependable source of hope and rejuvenation. Whether you're facing a difficult situation or simply looking to start fresh, turning to God can help you find strength and purpose in your journey. He can renew your spirit and give you a pure heart.
Dating with a pure heart and the right intentions is essential, especially for those who want to honor God in their single season. When entering into a dating relationship–starting with the first date–it's important to remember the end goal: to glorify Him.
This means seeking a partner who shares your values and beliefs and who will support and encourage you in your spiritual journey. It also means maintaining healthy boundaries and choosing to prioritize the principles of purity and faithfulness. While these decisions may not always be popular in today's culture, they are essential for those committed to living out their faith.
Remember, dating with intentionality is not a restriction but a blessing, as it can lead to a fulfilling and long-lasting relationship built on a foundation of shared values and mutual respect. Start today with this prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for Your grace, guidance, and goodness that helps me live–and date–in a way that honors You. Please create in me a pure heart so that I can glorify You as I meet and date new people. When I’m discouraged or tempted to live outside of Your will, I ask You to please renew a steadfast spirit within me. I desire to walk in Your will in all aspects of my life, including my dating journey.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
