Purity

We do not hear much about purity in our world today. Many people think that the whole concept is dated – that purity was just for people that lived long ago. But that is just not true. Purity reflects God’s pure love for us in how we treat one another. Purity reflects His holiness and goodness.

How are you handling purity now? God reserves sex for marriage. Being obedient to purity while you are engaged helps prepare you for purity in your marriage. Temptations do not disappear after we get married, and neither does the value of purity. It is a real problem when purity is not upheld in a marriage. When one spouse is looking at porn or looking outside the marriage to get needs met that were designed to be met only in marriage.

A commitment to purity will protect your marriage. Look at it this way. If you are not willing to follow God’s plan of purity before marriage, what makes you think you will follow His plan in your marriage?

Prayer:

God, help us to have strength and self control to be pure during the rest of our engagement. Help us to flee sexual temptation and to have the self control to wait to have sex until our wedding night. Protect us and help us to avoid tempting situations. Set us up for great sex in marriage. Help us to enjoy the good gift of sex at the proper time. Help us to trust You and Your word when it comes to sex and everything else. Thank You that You are a kind God full of mercy who loves it when we return to You. Thank You that You always respond to our confession with grace and compassion. Amen!
