Legacy Leadershipનમૂનો
Legacy leadership consists of each generation extending the borders of the previous generation. Leaving a spiritual legacy is not just about what we do, but also about how well we set the next generation up to go beyond what we have done.
Think of the example of Elijah and Elisha. Elisha didn’t merely continue the ministry of Elijah, he increased it and multiplied it. He was the man of the double portion. Elisha had his own powerful ministry, but his ministry was the fruit of Elijah’s legacy.
Legacy is not just about what we pass on, but who we receive from. Timothy, Paul’s companion, and ministry partner was a great example of a leader whose ministry was the product of legacy. Paul tells us that Timothy came from three generations of faith, “When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.” (2 Timothy 1:5)
But Timothy’s faith was also the origin of legacy to three generations. Regarding the things that Paul taught Timothy, Paul instructs Timothy to “commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2) In other words, Paul’s instruction is not to just pass a legacy to faithful people, but specifically to impart to others who will have the ability and commitment to teach others and reproduce the legacy again in the next generation.
Legacy from a leadership perspective requires us to understand the importance of the covenant that the Father makes with individuals. The legacy lives beyond the moment, and the legacy lives beyond the present individual. It always keeps in mind those who we have received from, as well as those who we are imparting into. Legacy is always generational in its impact.
