Far and Near

DAY 5 OF 5

Today, I want to talk to you about the prodigal son in Luke 15, where we see two sons and a father. The younger one asks for his inheritance from the father, and the father gives it to him. He then takes it to another town to spend it on all the wrong things.

He runs out of money, and there is a significant famine in the land he is in, so he ends up living with pigs. Then, he realizes that if he returns to His father and asks to be one of his father's workers, at least he would get a decent meal.

He returns home, and to his surprise, his father sees him from afar as though he had been sitting and waiting for his return. The father holds a big feast to celebrate his return and dresses him in the finest robes to show him how loved he was.

This story is a perfect depiction of what happens when we return to our Father, Jesus. He doesn't ask us, "What were you thinking?" or "You should have known better." He prepares a feast in heaven, and He calls all the angels to celebrate the return of His beloved.

I know it is sometimes easier to believe that God is mad at you than to think that He loves you. But you must continue to preach to yourself about the love of Jesus because it is REAL. Go back home.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, I may not understand why you love me so much or why you chose to die for me on the cross, but today I choose to invite you back into my life as my Lord and Savior. I believe and trust that all my sins have been forgiven. Just like the prodigal son, I am coming back home, and I know that your blood has made me worthy of any celebration that you would throw for me in heaven.
