"Am I my sister's keeper?" There's a really great (and honestly pretty sad) movie called My Sister's Keeper, where a girl takes her family to court for using her as a human resource for the health of her sister, who has cancer. It's a really extreme look at what it means to take care of your sibling. It really asks the question of, what does it mean to really sacrifice for someone else's well-being? Especially someone you love so much. Hermanos, or siblings, are considered your built-in friends. And naturally, we all want to look out for our friends.
The Bible talks about "sharing with others" as a response. Specifically, as it relates to living a life that honors Christ. When we go beyond seeing those around us as those who are not related to us (people we have no obligation to care for), we see them as more than that. We see them as built-in friends, hermanos. And just as we would care for our sibling, we can care for others with the same sense of responsibility.
What does it mean for you to care for others as if they were a brother or sister of yours?

About this Plan
“Family” is a concept understood in every country, culture, and language, but we all have unique family structures, traditions, problems, and dysfunctions. It's not always easy to love our families, but the Bible is full of guidance on how to love each other well — we just have to be willing to apply that at home. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll discover how to do that.
