Growing up, who was in charge of covering for the trouble maker? Like when the vase got broken during a game of indoor dodge ball, or when dirty laundry was left all over the kitchen floor in an attempt to "help." It can feel like you've got someone's back when you're trusted to cover for them, but when the truth just needs to come out, how do you get over your fears?
Coming clean can bring up a sense of disappointing others. When we try to cover up the mistakes we've made, we run into the difficult process of weaving a web that is hard to keep up with. God offers us a chance to confess in community, as a reminder that we are never alone in our struggles. Chances are, the very one you open up to understands whatever you may be trying to figure out. The most effective way to communicate with God happens when we communicate with God in all areas of life: the moments where we are most proud of ourselves, and the moments where we know we need the most help.
If you are struggling with something, can you open up to someone you trust?

About this Plan
“Family” is a concept understood in every country, culture, and language, but we all have unique family structures, traditions, problems, and dysfunctions. It's not always easy to love our families, but the Bible is full of guidance on how to love each other well — we just have to be willing to apply that at home. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll discover how to do that.
