He Leads Me Beside Still Watersનમૂનો
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
God prepares a table before us in front of our enemies. This verse can be hard to wrap our minds around. We understand that God will provide for us and feed us physically and spiritually, but in the presence of our enemies; why not with our friends. David is reminding us through this section of the Psalm that it is not only in the good times that we can rely on God to feed us, but also when we are in the hardest times, with people who don’t understand or support us, or when we are in pain and distress.
This is reinforced with the overflowing of the cup and the anointing; we are blessed and we are watered, we are sustained and we are nurtured, we are loved and we are led. We will always have God’s provision with us; we can trust in his abundant blessings.
Prayer:
Lord God
Thank you for being with me every day. Help me to hear you more clearly as you guide me through the storms of life and to know that I am safe in your care.
Amen
