UNCOMMEN: Confronting Sinનમૂનો
You Are That Man!
On Day 1 of our study, we read about David's hall-of-fame moment of sin.
In verses 1-4 of chapter 12 of 2 Samuel, Nathan tells David a story of the rich man and the poor man with the one lamb. As Nathan tells David the story about the injustice done to the poor man, David becomes angry as to how this could happen and that this rich man should be put to death for this sin and the poor man compensated.
Nathan then informs David, "You are the man!" (the rich man) in this story.
We all should be so lucky to have a Nathan in our lives to hold us accountable in areas where we sin. David is said to be a man after God's own heart.
Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.
This story in 2 Samuel may seem so out of character for David, but just like other examples in the Bible, he proves he is a sinful man in need of a Holy God.
I pray that we never get to the point that we are so comfortable with our sin that we need someone like Nathan to point it out to us. But knowing that we will indeed sin, I have good news for you. The Holy Spirit is our Nathan and counseling us daily on what we should and shouldn't be doing.
We should be tapping into His power in our life with prayers about areas we are weak in and how we can grow stronger in our walk. God knew we needed something much more than a Nathan in our lives.
John 16: 7-8 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.
