Enter In - To The Life God Promised Youનમૂનો
MOSES IS DEAD
Honouring the past does not mean living there.
If God was to speak to you, what do you think His opening line would be? How do you think He would begin His account with you? An encouragement perhaps? A challenge? With a soft touch or a firm hand? When God addressed Joshua to call him to lead the Israelite nation, the first thing He wanted to clarify was that Moses was, in fact, dead.
There is more ahead of us than there is behind us, and to access all that God has for us in our future, we need to leave the past behind, or we will forever be held back by what was. To accept the baton God was holding before Him and ENTER IN to the life God promised him, Joshua had to overcome the past, the familiar, and the dead - and we need to do the same.
Moses had been a tremendous leader, he had been Joshua's leader, but now he was gone and that time was finished. You could say that those were the "good old days", but regardless of how good they were, the reality was, those days were no longer. Moses represented Joshua's past. Moses was also all that Joshua had known - from the escape from Egypt to the banks of the Jordan River, Moses was familiar, and that too needed to be relinquished. Finally, Moses' time on earth had come to an end - after all that he had accomplished and all that he had shown Joshua, Moses was now dead.
The past, the familiar, and the dead represent the same challenges that can hold us back from experiencing all that God has for us. Too often we long to ENTER IN to the life God has for us but we aren't willing to relinquish our past, our familiar and our 'dead'.
Today, let's choose to respond to God's call and let go of the things that are inhibiting our ability to ENTER IN.
What needs to die in your life? Once you have let that go, God can breath new life into your potential!
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
The past:
- what is God showing you AHEAD that is currently being held back by what has happened in your past?
The familiar:
- where do you retreat to? i.e. your comfort place. And is that unhealthy and you were unaware because you've become familiar?
The dead:
- what are you holding on to that you need to lay to rest? Is there a previous high point or low point that you need to let die?
PRAY:
God, I know you have great and precious promises for me in my future. Help me to relinquish the things in my past that are holding me back. Lord, I give to you all every aspect of my life that I need to let die. I lay them at your feet and choose to move forward.
