DAY 28 OF 50

If You Can Find a Way, Give it Away

John said to Him, Teacher, we saw a man who does not follow along with us driving out demons in Your name, and we forbade him to do it, because he is not one of our band [of Your disciples]. Mark 9:38 AMPC

The capitalist's perfect scenario is one in which he enjoys monopoly of a market and can extract the highest price from those who need his product. While it may be disguised as zeal, this appears to be the actual spirit behind the actions of the disciples that John reported to the Lord. They were seeking exclusive monopoly of the use of the Lord's name.

While it might seem counterintuitive in the business world to not be so protective of your turf, the reality is that the believer cannot have a generous spirit in church on Sunday, and switch on his stingy spirit on weekdays. It is with the same generosity that he attends the gospel, that he must attend his business.

The fear that you will lose out springs not from God because “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV) That fear comes not from the sense of abundance that God inspires, but from the sense of scarcity that is instigated by the devil who wants men to believe that there is a shortage, and they must quickly grab and keep all they can.

In reality, “There are those who [generously] scatter abroad, and yet increase more; there are those who withhold more than is fitting or what is justly due, but it results only in want.” (Proverbs 11:24 AMPC)

Think today: “How can we be more generous to the world with our products as we go into the future?” Deliberately probing for ways in which your company can be a blessing opens you up to receive guidance from God on this matter. And you can ask for God's guidance even as you have full assurance that “... God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].” (2 Corinthians 9:8 AMPC)
