Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 7

DAY 13 OF 31

Rabshakeh uses the Judean language to loudly taunt the king and people. Hezekiah calls for Isaiah who replies that a rumor will make Sennacherib return home where he will die. When he could not quickly take Jerusalem, Rabshakeh leaves the siege to consult his king who is attacking Libnah. News of an approaching Cush (Ethiopian) army gives some hope to Hezekiah. When Rabshakeh sends back a threatening letter, Isaiah tells Hezekiah not to look to Ethiopia, as God will punish Ethiopia and also destroy Assyria.
