Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 7

DAY 15 OF 31

710 BC Songs tell of God’s great victory over the Assyrians and much wealth is attracted to Judah. Hezekiah builds new towns and begins to trust his wealth, not God. Isaiah says self-seeking Babylon will also be conquered and he encourages Judah’s leaders to trust in God and not panic. He also predicts infamous Tyre and all Phoenicia will be destroyed for 70 years.

Note Isaiah 22:15: Shebna, the royal scribe and an authoritative person, was pro-Egypt. He proudly set up a royal tomb for himself. He was replaced by Eliakim (2 Kings 18:18).
