Press The Reset Button

One of the reasons people love video games so much is that it gives them the opportunity to play the same challenges and scenarios over and over until they get them right and win. If you make a mistake, then you can simply press the reset button and start again. If only life was that simple! 

There is a verse in the book of Psalms that says, "The Lord is gracious and compassionate." 

The word grace means to have a fresh start even when we don’t deserve it. That almost sounds like a reset button, doesn’t it? Inside each of us, there is a desire to press reset and to get a fresh start. We long to overcome our selfishness, our painful experiences, and our past mistakes. 

The Bible reminds us that Jesus was like a reset button for the whole world. The history books have confirmed several things about who Jesus was. He lived as a traveling preacher, died on a cross, and His tomb was empty three days after He died. Some people think His followers stole His body, but surely only rising from the dead could have sparked the worldwide faith known as Christianity. 

Christians believe Jesus pushed the reset button for everyone who believes He is who He said He is. Our past mistakes can be wiped clean and our future can be redirected because of Jesus. 

The picture of what God is like is fully revealed in Jesus. We see a God who is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in love. Jesus gives us the grace to start new conversations with God. We get a fresh start even if we don’t deserve one. 

Trying to make life work though our own efforts can be exhausting. Now is the time to start a real spiritual conversation with God. Press pause so you can press reset. You can call on the God today who is closer than we think. You can give thanks for the awe and wonder we see in the world. You can live a life trusting someone actually worth following. You can know God for yourself.
