Jour 8 sur 30

Setting Right Goals

Psalms 27:4 "One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple."

Someone recently asked me what my goals were in this season of my life. I immediately thought about some of the things I’m trying to accomplish. I thought about numbers and impact and growth. I thought about success and accomplishments. Then I paused to consider God's word.

In Psalm 27:4 David said, “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple”. Most of us have been there before, but truth be told, we’re easily distracted. We’re distracted by the noise in our lives. We’re distracted by the stuff that we have. We’re distracted by our dreams. Eventually we will learn that lesser things will never satisfy us. They will always leave us empty.

What’s your goal in this season of your life? Is it financial security or marriage? Is it professional advancement or a desire for more travel? Haven’t you figured it out by now? You’ll never find the peace your soul longs for until God becomes your #1 goal. Everything else pales in comparison.

Questions:

What is your #1 focus and goal in this season of your life? What are some specific ways you can seek the Lord more intentionally?
