The Daily Dose: 30 Days to a Healthy SoulExemple
Settle Your Priorities
Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
Do you take God’s Word seriously, or do you just say that you do? Most of us are very familiar with Matthew 6:33. Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to us. We say it and to a certain extent we might even believe it—technically speaking. But when it comes to practically living it out, it's a whole other matter.
Practically speaking in real life, our families sort of come first. We skip time with God because our kids need us. Or maybe it's your work that has all of your attention right now. Your boss says jump and you say how high. Or hold on and consider this one: it might be your hobbies and your free time that have you in bondage. When it comes to “me” time, most of us become very dogmatic about it. We figure God wants us to rest, and that means time set aside for us to binge on our favorite Netflix show, or catch up on ESPN. We each have our vices, and they're sort of like carbon monoxide, killing us ever so slowly and without obvious signs of destruction!
While all of these things I mention are not bad per se, God’s Word doesn't beat around the bush. Make God your priority, make His Kingdom central to your life, and your family and kids and work and free time will all line right up the way they’re supposed to.
Is your life out of sync? Perhaps it’s because your priorities are too.
Questions:
What are you prioritizing in your life right now? Where do you spend the majority of your time each day?
