Submission, Humility, Forgiveness

When you think of all the miracles Jesus performed, it would have been nothing to simply call down a legion of angels to deliver Him from the hands of Pilate and the religious rulers. But He didn’t use His power to change things, nor did He back away from what He was about to face.

As Jesus was on trial being falsely accused and mocked, tortured and crucified, how did He respond? Unlike the pride-filled and jealous religious leaders or Pilate the people pleaser, Jesus modeled submission, humility and forgiveness. He trusted His Father and in obedience fulfilled the Father’s will.

When we face our own trials, it is instinctive to want to be delivered from something painful, especially if it is seemingly unjustified. We typically do anything and everything in our power to change the circumstances and try to control the outcome.

It is easy to lose perspective and to doubt that God is aware of what you’re going through, much less present with you. But in humility and submission, and forgiveness if needed, if you will trust that God loves you and has a plan and a purpose, you can regain your confidence that it will all be okay.

It may not be the way you want or think it should be. It may far exceed your understanding of what and why you’re having to go through such a trial. But if you continue to trust in His love for you, God will reveal more of Himself and bring you into an intimacy that overshadows all you’re going through.
